Answer · The Son of God

Why is Jesus called the Son of God?

Luke 1:35 directly connects the title Son of God to the miraculous conception.

Direct answer

Because he was conceived by the Holy Ghost and born of Mary as the holy human manifestation through whom God saved us.

Luke gives the cause

The angel says “therefore” the holy thing born would be called the Son of God. The title is tied to what happened in Mary's womb.

Son does not mean lesser deity

The Son is the image of the invisible God and the bodily dwelling of all divine fullness.
